Dan Marr – NHL Scouting

Marr began his career as a trainer with the Ontario Hockey League’s Toronto Marlboros team and was promoted to trainer with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.  In 1989, Marr became a full time amateur scout for the Maple Leafs. In 2011, Marr was named Director of NHL Central Scouting making him the second Dunnville native to hold this title; the other being Jim Gregory.

Kathy Sitak – Figure Skating – Special Olympics Coach

Sitak, a professional synchronized skater, has won bronze twice at the World Invitational Synchro Series and performed with her synchronized skating team, Burlington Ice Image, in London, England. After her own skating career came to an end, she pursued coaching and takes special pride in her Special Olympic skaters. Sitak has been a team coach for provincial, national and world teams where several of her students have won medals.

Nathan Horton – NHL

Nathan Horton is currently under contract with the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. Horton won the Stanley Cup in 2011 with the Boston Bruins and brought the cup home to a very proud Dunnville. Horton has also played for NHL teams Columbus Blue Jackets and Boston Bruins.

Peter DeBoer – NHL Coach

DeBoer is a former professional hockey player and coach. He served as the head coach for the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers. DeBoer has won the OHL Coach of the Year award twice after being head coach for 13 seasons with the Detroit Whalers, Plymouth Whalers and Kitchener Rangers. DeBoer is currently the part owner of the Oshawa Generals of the OHL.

Jim Gregory – NHL General Manager & Scouting

Jim Gregory, Dunnville’s “Mr. Hockey”, has coached and won two championships with the Toronto Marlboros, then found employment with the Toronto Maple Leafs as their General Manager. Gregory led the Leafs to eight playoff appearances in the ten years holding the position. He later became the NHL’s Director of Scouting and currently retains a position in the NHL’s Hockey Operations department.

Barry Dear – Former Brooklyn Dodger’s Pitcher

Barry Dear was an instrumental factor in leading the Canadian Tire Junior “B” team to the provincial championship in 1953 for the first time in Dunnville’s history. After being interested in Dear’s progress for three years, the world-champion Brooklyn Dodgers’ scout Doug Mowry signed a contract with Dunnville’s own Barry “Dapper” Dear at the of 20.

Matt Roik – NLL

Matt Roik is a professional lacrosse goaltender and has played for several National Lacrosse League teams, including the Toronto Rock. Matt was a former hockey goaltender and switched his goaltending duties to lacrosse after his junior days in hockey were over. Matt, along with NLL coach Tyson Lieis have graduated from Dunnville Minor Lacrosse teams that have won provincial and national championships, which has led them both to their careers in lacrosse.

Dave Fenyves – NHL

Dave Fenyves was a Dunnville Minor Hockey player until the age of thirteen. He was often put in to play against players much older than he was. After being drafted to the OHL’s Peterborough Petes, and winning the Memorial Cup, Dave was drafted to the NHL and played over 200 games with the Buffalo Sabres, and Philadelphia Flyers.

Jessica Dunham – National Synchronized Skating Bronze Medalist

Jessica has been figure skating since she was four years old. She currently skates with the NEXXICE Novice Synchronized Skating Team out of Burlington, Ontario. She has many accomplishments including winning bronze twice at the Canadian Nationals for synchronized skating and won gold at provincials for 2015, and she is only fifteen.

Bill Davidge – Dunnville’s Voice of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets

After retiring as a coach of twelve years, Bill Davidge landed several NHL scouting assignments with the Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, and as Scout and Player Development Coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bill’s twenty years of playing, coaching, scouting, and extensive knowledge of the game, led him to the job of Radio Colour Analyst for the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.

Bobby Green – Boxing

Bobby Green is a Canadian amateur boxer from St. Catharines Boxing Club and has twenty years of professional boxing under his belt. Green has fought in seventeen professional fights in junior middleweight, lightweight, and light heavy weight.

Glenn Hunter – Boxing

Glenn Hunter is a two-time Canadian amateur light heavyweight champion. He won bronze at the Francophone Games in Africa and was the Canadian representative for the international games in Ireland and across North America. He was also assigned to participate with the Canadian team at the commonwealth games.

Roger Hunt – Hockey

Roger Hunt was a hockey player and hockey coach for England’s Team in the European Hockey League. He has been an assistant coach of the IIFH Canadian Jr. Hockey Team and is currently the General Manager of the Oshawa Generals Memorial Cup Hockey Team.

Danny Makey – Hockey & Baseball

Danny Makey was a two-sport Dunnville athlete. Makey played with Major League Baseball’s Montreal Expos’ farm club at the age of twenty until being signed by the Expos themselves. He was also a skilled-hockey player, winning the Memorial Cup and Junior Hockey Championship with the OHL’s Niagara Falls Flyers.

Scott Mazi – Hockey & Lacrosse

Scott Mazi obtained a hockey scholarship from Ohio University to play with Miami from 1987 to 1991. He was then scouted by coach Bill Davidge, and became the captain of the Miami Varsity team. Mazi was also a dominant scoring forward for Dunnville’s Canadian National Championship Peewee Lacrosse team in the summer of 1980.

Dave Green

Dave Green was a professional hockey player who played in the Chicago Black Hawk system. He played with the St. Catharines Jr. “A” Black Hawks, New Jersey Devils of the EPHL, the St. Louis Braves of the CPHL, the Port Huron Flags of the IHL and the Welland Merchants Sr. “A” team. Dave Green was also a hockey coach and elementary school teacher of more than twenty years.

Brian Secord – Bodybuilding

Brian Secord was born and raised in Dunnville and began bodybuilding in his late teens. He has won many bodybuilding championships including first place in the IDFA World Bodybuilding Championships in the heavyweight and overall competition, and first place in the New York State Bodybuilding Championships for heavyweight and overall. Secord has also competed in several Pro Mr. Universe competitions.
